What installing does

Installing does not create a different product. It pins this same website to your phone so it is faster to open on the water.

Full-screen launch — no browser address bar — so regulations, maps, and pier guides are easier to read.
Offline-friendly pages you have already opened, including maps and regulation PDFs, so you can still look things up with weak cell service.
No extra account and no store fees. Sign in the same way you do on the website if you want a catch log.

iPhone & iPad

Use Safari. Chrome, Instagram, Facebook, and other in-app browsers on iOS cannot install the app correctly.

Open this site in Safari — acaliforniafishingapp.org.
Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up), usually at the bottom of the screen.
Scroll the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
Tap Add. The CA Fishing icon appears on your home screen. Open it from there — it launches full screen like a regular app.

Android

Chrome works best. Samsung Internet and Edge can also install it.

Open this site in Chrome — acaliforniafishingapp.org.
If you see an Install or Add to Home screen banner, tap it.
If there is no banner, tap the ⋮ menu (top right), then Install app or Add to Home screen.
Tap Install. The app appears on your home screen and opens full screen when you tap it.
